his career throughout the world. His paintings are in an original genre, rooted in a unique Buddhist
perspective. These paintings depict the insanity, degeneration, violence, eroticism, and death
lurking in the heart of modern man. The artist has shocked the world by creating a uniquely Asian
artistic expression. Mr. Thawan is indeed worthy to be called a master of modern Asian art.
Mr. Thawan Duchanee’s activities are not limited to Thailand he is known throughout Asia
and the world. He works in an original, dynamic genre rooted in a unique perspective of
Thai Buddhism. One of the most foremost Asian artists, he has won wide acclaim from
the general public as well as the art critics.

Pratuang Emjaroen, 86, was born October 9, 1935 in Bangkok. He is a self-taught artist. With
determination and patience, his source of learning came from studying art across different
cultures and philosophies such as India and China. He believes that nature and the sun are the
origins of artistic creativity and both heavily influenced his works. Pratuang creates art through his
imagination and his faith in the virtue and goodness to be found in mankind, and optimism. He
creates his art work happily with the use of vivid, vibrant colors and powerfully free strokes.
Pratuang’s inquisitive nature has played a significant role throughout the different periods of his
creativity, including collections like Meeting Sufferings, Universal Learning and other valuable
collections.
Pratuang built the Emjaroen Art Gallery and opened it to the public in 2007 as a source of art
study and a place to exhibit a variety of artistic works. Throughout his career, he has participated
in art events as a chairman for opening art exhibitions all over the country, as an invited honored
artist for charity events, and as a guest lecturer to students at schools and universities. He has
been happily creating his art works for over 50 years, and was honored as National Artist of
Thailand in 2005.

Prayat was born in 1934, Singburi. Received B.F.A. (Painting), Silpakorn University, Bangkok and Dip. (Decorazione), L’Accademia di Belle Art, Rome, Italy. Given several honors including, Accademico Onorario Classe Incisione, L’Accademia Fiorentina Delle Arti Del Disegno, Italy and Accredited “Great Artist” (Graphic Arts) by the Committee of the National Exhibition of Art. Prayat has exhibited widely in Asia and Europe.
Thailand’s National Artist of the year 2009. Preecha Thaothong was born in 1948, Bangkok. Selected to be Thailand’s National Artist in 2009.Received B.F.A. (Painting), Silpakorn University, Bangkok, M.F.A. (Painting), Silpakorn University, Bangkok and Diploma of Drawing, Academy Bella Arte, Rome, Italy. 2000-2003 he was a Dean of The Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, Bangkok. Present, serves as Assistant Professor of Thai Art Department of Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, Bangkok.
Preecha finds inspiration in the region’s glorious history. He was one of the seven leading national artists selected to create paintings for “Mahajanaka”, a book penned by His Majesty the King, who himself is a very knowledgeable and versatile artist whether it be in painting, sculpture or photography. More recently Preecha has worked for Thai Airways International (THAI) as its chief artistic consultant for the national flag-carrier’s multibillion-baht head-office and hotel projects at the new Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Preecha has exhibited widely in Asia, Europe and America.
